Income Revenue to Soar (according to C+H)
* Taken from the news paper threads

Apparently, according to Claret and Hugh, we're set to break over £200m for Income.

C&H

West Ham turnover set to soar to £210m

West Ham are in for a bumper financial year despite the pandemic with turnover set to reach £210m for the period that finishes on Monday 31st May.

The Hammers are set to receive a massive £155m from broadcasters from last season. Each Premier League received a £38m share plus for domestic TV rights £47m in overseas rights.

As every game was broadcast on TV every club also received another £38m in lieu of facilities payments. Finally the Hammers received £30m as a merit payment for finishing in sixth place.

Add to the £155m broadcast income £26m of TV income from the previous season that was deferred plus £20m in commercial activities and sponsorship and £8.5m in retail sales.

Ticket revenue for the year was reduced to around £500,000 with just two restricted games played in front of season ticket holders.

When you total it all up to the total revenue for the 2020/2021 reaches a record £210m breaking a previous record of £191m set in 2019/2020

No real excuses for not having money to sign players then is there?

Re: Income Revenue to Soar (according to C+H)
I'm not a fan of the stadium move or the stadium.

But it has happened and we live with it.

With that in mind, I really don't think it will be long before the pressure mounts on the govt/LLDC and other partners to sell the stadium to us for a song.

E20, the owner, lost £27m on the stadium in the year to 2019 - and that was when we were paying full and rent and they could use the stadium for other events.

I dread to think how much they have lost during the pandemic. £50m - more?

The losses for the stadium operator are simply unsustainable and growing by the day. There really are only a couple of options available to those involved - and the most viable is to sell the stadium to us.

It's the next big development and my gut feeling is that process will begin soon. Most likely when the next set of losses get reported. At that point, opposition MPs, councillors etc will do our bidding for us - because they will accuse the govt of creating a white elephant even with us inside the stadium as tenants for 26 days a year.

There are just two big stumbling blocks: price and cronyism. With Brady now firmly ensconced in the Lords, the govt would be under political pressure over any cut-price deal, even though the economics of the situation pretty much dictate a sale.

Fuck knows what will happen to athletics after that. I like athletics, but it's a sport which cannot pay for itself. And it's getting in the way of the football! Most likely the new 'home' of athletics could become the redeveloped Alexander Stadium in Birmingham - currently being prepared and extended for the Commonwealth Games?

At the end of the day it comes down to 2 things. 1) when the stadium which makes a loss is sold to them for next to nothing and 2) when the time period expires that means they pay less to the government for selling the club. Not sure what good it will do Gold, he looked closer to death than Prince Phillip at the last match

*increase the revenue of the club by a proper amount I should have said.

He said it got us £12m max.

We might have got half of that with naming rights at UP and more non-football events

Cheers scott. I was pretty much aware of that, but I wanted someone else to post it up as well. So Brady isn't at fault for Stadium sponsorship, as much as they are to blame for many things.
What they should've been is honest over what they could/couldn't do regarding the stadium and the surrounding area in order to improve the matchday experience. And also if there Is a possibility to negotiate concerning any of these issues.

Re: Income Revenue to Soar (according to C+H)
Absolutely, the whole deal was negotiated on helping the BERKS bottom line.

They gave up things like stadium ownership rights and the majority of the concessions revenue plus set a low fixed number of games (making our reluctance to compete in clubs a bit more obvious when you think about it) in order to get a cheap yearly rent and tuck up the LLDC on things like stewarding and policing costs.

The deal was NOT negotiated to increased the revenue of the club. Sullivan admitted as such but people were too busy daydreaming to notice.

AAAAAND we're back in 2015...

Moved to the shithole for no other reason than the davids pockets.

When the stadium gets handed to them for free watch the value of the club soar and then sell up.

Re: Income Revenue to Soar (according to C+H)
Regarding the stadium sponsorship, it is on the landlords BUT even if they managed to get £100m in sponsorship the club would only see £2.5m of that thanks to the contract negotiated by the board.

There was an interesting article on the official site where it mentioned we’ve spent circa £26m on community projects.

I don’t think it mentioned over how long a period that covered but even if it was five years it’s a significant amount of money and something we don’t take into account when trying to work out our transfer budget.

We’ve proven you don’t have to spend big to improve your squad anyway, so hopefully the key lessons have now been learned.

As people point out what Brady gets for failing to move the dial on the commercial side is amazing and certainly when compared with what Moyes gets paid for the improvement in our results and therefore the TV money placing element.

Mike, the Landlords are.

I think they spent about £500k to a third party to try and find a sponsor and they came back empty handed. Complete waste of money.

WHU offered to help find a stadium sponsor for free. Rejected.

Are we responsible for the stadium sponsor, or is the landlords - so to speak?

Didn't spurs have a different shirt sponsor for the European games 10 years ago. Let's see if our genius karren can pull off something similar for us . Il be massively surprised if she does. Useless cow.

Stewie - totally agree. Brady really hasn't earned her cash since taking the civil servants to the cleaners over the stadium (I'm not a fan of the move, but it could be argued that she did a superb job on that).

Revenues-wise, I'm not sure she's added a huge amount since. The lack of a stadium sponsor, after five years of supposedly searching for one, says it all.

And don't forget TV monies will be flat and no growth for a few years.

The current deal has been extended to 2025. No auction/bidding war.

Still, at least no decrease.

Re: Income Revenue to Soar (according to C+H)

this x 100

£183m of our £210m income - 87% - is from tv revenues. Great, but not outstripping anyone else other than by an incremental amount due to league position so no great advantage.

What an absolutely pitiful job Brady has done elsewhere. What's her salary? £1m a year...and she's bringing in £27m from commercial and sponsorship? Fucking hell, that's an absolutely unreal return.

Re: Income Revenue to Soar (according to C+H)
When comparing year on year income, don't forget there is a £52 million swing in TV monies, because of Covid.

We were £26 million down last season (2020) and will be £26 million up this season. That is just a one off, timing issue and not repeating income growth.

Re: Income Revenue to Soar (according to C+H)
It has grown, but not massively. And much of that is down to the increased ground capacity when fans can attend.

Re: Income Revenue to Soar (according to C+H)
the increase in revenue during their tenure is very little to do with G&S.
they've been lucky to be around for the big hikes in TV money.
has our commercial income grown massively? has it grown massively since the move?

Block - I agree with you, mate. It's good to have some positive news after a positive season.

Things are definitely looking up for West Ham, despite a shite year across the globe.
